| Stilvalley Black Dymond - Charlotte |
Charlotte has been spayed. She was not quite show quality due to her ears. They refused to tip over, even after persistent gluing. Her pups, however, are very beautiful and all seem to have wonderful ears. Charlotte, however, was not a great mother
You can view Charlotte's Pedigree now.
Charlotte has tested negative for MDR1 Multi-Drug Sensitivity mutation

We adopted Charlotte when her previous owner was unable to keep her. They moved to a smaller place and could not keep as many dogs. We ended up with Charlotte and her brother Joker. We decided to keep Charlotte and found Joker a good home in the town of Monroe. He is very happy there.
Charlotte was very active when we first got her so we decided to do something with her to try and use up some of that excess energy. We first tried Skiijoring. But we gave up pretty quickly because Charlotte doesn't like to pull. We thought she would since she liked pulling on leash. But when we broke her of that desire, we ended up breaking her of any desire to pull.

|
|
So we turned to Agility. It turns out Charlotte is not very good at Agility. She doesn't like to jump high so we have her in the Preferred category but she loves to run and follow the course. She has achieved her Novice title. We decieded to enter her in NADAC Agility because she can jump at 12 inches.
We decided to breed Charlotte. Because of the problems we had with Paisley's litter, we decided to use a different breeder. We went with Paula Lysinger of Gold Hill Collies. We bred to Easy, a beautiful Rough Blue Merle Collie. This has caused some problems with Charlotte's original owner. She wanted to pick the male for the breeding.

Charlotte has been certified MDR1 negative and so has Easy. This basically means that neither one carries the mutant gene for Multi-drug sensitivity. This mutation will not be passed on to their offspring. 3 out of every 4 Collies carries this gene. Only 1 in 4 are mutation free. For more information on MDR1, visit the University of Washington MDR1 website.
Charlotte was a good mother to her puppies. She fed them when needed and kept them warm. She cleaned up after them and loved to snuggle and nuzzle them. They annoyed her when they finally got teeth.
|
|
|
Since Charlotte had her puppies, she was very sedate. Not surprising after the massive effort of carrying and having puppies. She is a bit overweight and refusing to lose weight. We suspect she is sneaking food from the children.
We entered her in a bunch of Agility shows starting in August 2006. She really loves her Agility and missed it very much. The problem is, she doesn't like to jump high. So we pulled her from Agility and now she just trains but doesn't compete. She is going to continue training and continue packing because she really needs the exercise.

Oh, and Charlotte loves to give hugs. If you kneel down, Charlotte will come give you a hug.

Charlotte has been spayed. She had her one and only litter of puppies. She was an OK mother but could have been better. We do not plan to show her in conformation because of her ears. They still won't tip over. We are having better luck with Aurora. |
