Aurora's Litter for 2008
|
|
We kept one of Charlotte's puppies, Aurora. She was bred to Brian of McMaur's Collies. Puppies arrived August 26, 2008 and were ready to go to their homes October 21, 2008.
She has been checked for MDR-1 drug sensitivity. Both her sire and dam were checked as normal/normal.
Aurora's hips have been checked by our local Veterinarian and the results are good. She appears to have no hip problems.
She has been certified as free from Collie Eye Anomaly.
The puppies have seen a Veterinary Ophthalmologist in Seattle, WA to have their eyes checked for Collie Eye Anomaly. They have all been certified as Normal Eyed. His parting comment to us was "This is the first litter of Collies I have seen that have all been Normal Eyed".
Some of the puppies have Persistent Pupilary Membranes. The Ophthalmologist thinks these may be absorbed over time. This is NOT Collie Eye Anomaly and is not an issue with the health or breeding of Collies. The Canine Eye Registration Foundation has information on both Persistent Pupillary Membranes and Collie Eye Anomaly.

Sire
|
|
The Sire for this litter is McMaur's The Intimidator (Brian) of McMaur's Collies. Brian is certified to be a genetic non-carrier of Collie Eye Anomaly. We were unaware of this test until contacting Brian's owner.
Brian is a very friendly beautiful Sable Smooth Collie. He is rough factored, white factored and a CEA non-carrier.

Dam
|
|
The dam for the litter is our very own Rainybank's Aurora Boralis (Aurora). She travelled to Southern California this year for this breeding. This is Aurora's first litter and it has caused a marked change in her behavior. She is much more snugly now and loveable.
We think she will make a good mother. She can be very gentle, especially around puppies.

January 6, 2009 - The final puppy, Teddy, has found a great home
December 2, 2008 - Talon has found a loving home and has been renamed Comet
November 12, 2008 - The remaining puppies are starting on basic obedience training
November 11, 2008 - Zach went home with his new owners
October 30, 2008 - Lassie went home with her new owners
October 25, 2008 - Murphy went home with his new owners

October 18, 2008 - Some nice photos were taken of the puppies in an unofficial "Photo Shoot"
October 7, 2008 - The puppies have seen a Veterinary Ophthalmologist and have all been certified as Normal Eyed (Free of Collie Eye Anomaly)

October 4, 2008 - The first round of shots have been administered.

September 28, 2008 - Aurora has started to wean the puppies. They have teeth and she doesn't want them drinking milk any more
September 27, 2008 - All the puppies were checked by the local veterinarian. He said they are all healthy and eating well.
September 18, 2008 - We took the puppies outside for the first time. They really love it out there.

September 17, 2008 - The puppies have started eating solid foods.
September 6, 2008 - All the puppies are healthy. They have all been named! Check below for more information.
August 29, 2008 - The puppies have started Superdog Stimulation Training
August 27, 2008 - Two of the sable puppies are actually sable-merle
August 26, 2008 - The puppies have arrived. There are three tri-color and three sable puppies.
