Our love affair with Collies started innocently enough, with just one Collie. We were looking for a pet when we were first married and we stumbled across a young Collie being neglected in a pet store. He was full grown and stuffed in a tiny cage.
Well, we were young and ignorant so we bought our first Collie from a pet store. This turned out to be a great choice. Lance was the best dog you could ever imagine. He was smart and well behaved, especially around the children. Our children could tug on his fur and pull his ears and he thought it was all great
After that we were lost, Collies were for us. We learned a lot about Collies and about dogs in general. Cindi helped with a few rescue organizations and worked at a couple of Veterinarian's offices. Finally we decided to start breeding for ourselves.
Here you can follow the history of our Collie experience.

The original Rainybank Collie, Lance was purchased from a pet store. If we had known in our younger days how pet stores get their dogs, we wouldn't have done this. Luckily for Lance, we didn't know any better.

Echo was purchased from her first owner in Georgia. We were looking for a companion for Lance. We didn't necessarily want a Collie but Echo became available for very little. So we purchased her as Lance's companion.

Jenny was rescued from a breeder on the Olympic Peninsula. She died of a severe reaction to Ivermectin. This is how we learned about the MDR-1 multidrug sensitivity. We weren't breeding dogs yet so handn't done our research and obviously our Vet didn't know about it. Poor Jenny.
